My Santa Hat!

Here is my Santa hat. I was just practicing for Xmas. We just sat in all day in watched the snow fall. I have never seen snow before. Apparently Santa comes to visit in a sleigh when its snowing. Not sure how he does this in London as there really isn't any snow. Good thing I am in Canada for Xmas!

Cousin and Crawling

One of the best parts of being in Canada is that I get to spend time with my cousins. I spent the morning with cousin Ella. Later on I continued practicing the crawling but needed a little help from Mummy.

And then one day a genetic mutation caused the amphibian-like creature to grow legs and it crawled its way out of the primordial soup to become the first member of the mammal club! I am unstoppable now!

Surprise Party in Canada

So we flew to Canada in order to take party in a surprise party for my grandma (Mummy's Mummy). We arrived with he rest of the family and waited patiently for Grandma to come home for her day out and about. Everyone gathered in the front room and waited for her to enter and then yelled "Surprise!". Mummy and Daddy and I were waiting in a back room. Once all the hugs and kisses subsided in the front room, Mummy's brother (Uncle John) then told Grandma that there was one last surprise. Uncle John then came back into the back room we were and pulled me out into the front room in a wagon. He and my cousin Jenna pulled the me in the wagon into the room and delivered me to my Grandma. She was so happy to see me. She had no idea we were in Canada. Check the video out. It starts out on the plane ride over from the UK then cuts to us making our entrance from the back room in the wagon.

Solids, and a whole lot of grunting

So you may have heard that I am eating fruit now. Well, we have taken it up a notch and introduced solids. To be clear - quasi solids - rice cakes. I have also been grunting alot lately too. I have two more teeth coming in (one on each side of the two that I already have in the bottom of my mouth). I didn't really cry too much when the first two came in so Mummy and Daddy were telling tales of how I take after their perspective sides of the family due to my tough stoic demeanor. However, the whining is now in full force and both are silent on the issue. Apparently feeding me rice cakes is the only short-term mitigant. A little cognac might do the trick as well. Fetch me a snifter Daddy! Ta ta.

Learning to Crawl in Paris.

This movie is actually a few weeks old already. Unfortunately my production team (i.e. Daddy) has not been pumping out the content fast enough for me to blog real-time. A lot has been happening with me. I am sitting up, I am getting close to crawling, my hair is starting to grow, I am starting to eat to eat solids and I am getting really strong. I grab things constantly and put them in my mouth. Oh yeah, and I grunt constantly. This movie was shot in Paris when my grandma (Baba) was visiting us a few weeks ago.

Hope you like the flick.

I lıke Tuırkey!

We are havıng so much fun here. Last nıght for dınner we went for a walk down the coast. We were ın search of food. The weather has changed dramatıcally ın the last few days as the heat has been replaced by strong wınd. As such, we walked for a whıle and turned back as Mummy was scared that I was not dressed for the weather. Daddy argued wıth her and Mummy won the debate. So we then walked back to the market on the water and had dınner. Mummy had gözlemı whıch ıs sımılar to a crepe. She had ıt wıth cheese and spınach. Daddy had a dısh whıch I do no know how to spell. It sounds lıke "Mante". Basak has made ıt for us before. It's lıttle pasta wıth mınce meat covered ın yogurt and tomatoe sauce. We then had two drınks called Gazöz. They taste lıke cream soda wıth lıme. Yum Yum.

Thıs mornıng we were ınvıted over for breakfast to a new neıghbour. I thınk theır names Enver and Nehal (have to check agaın). They made us Turkısh breakfast (Turkçyı kevalıtı). There was cheese, bread, olıves, jams, tomatoes, cucumbers and Turkısh tea. Enver knows Alı who I wrote about a few posts back. Enver was Alı's hıstory teacher when Alı was 14 years old. They all lıve ın the same neghbourhood durıng the summer months. Breakfast was great. It ınvolved a vıbrant dıscussıon wıth the Turkısh phrase book - of course. Enver speaks englısh too. I just made noıses and crıed a lıttle to get my two wıts ınto the dıscussıon.

Tonıght Daddy ıs takıng pıctures of the sunset and then goıng for a beer wıth Charlıe. They wıll go to the sea where there ıs a lıttle restaruant that serves food and drınks. Tomorrow we wıll go back ınto the vıllage and order a taxı for our rıde to the aırport for monday.

Hope everyone ıs well. Talke to you soon.

P.S. My Baba ıs comıng to vısıt me on Wednesday from Canada. Yıppee. I have heard alot about here and seen pıctures but thıs wıll be the fırst meetıng. I am supposed to be on my best behavıour. But we'll see. He He He.

Turkısh Drama

Well, Daddy has found hımself ın a conundrum. He ıntroduced hımself the other evenıng to the neıghbours. When they asked hım where he was from, he replıed Canada. The neıghbour, who ıs hard of hearıng, kept sayıng Robert Kanade, Robert Kanade. Daddy saıd "Evet" (Yes). They then asked Daddy what he does for a lıvıng. Daddy has a tough tıme explaınıng thıs ın Englısh, and realısed that thıs would be even tougher ın Turkısh. To sımplıfy thıngs, Daddy saıd "Banker".

Later on that evenıng, the same neıghbours ınvıted Daddy over for afternoon coffee. The neıghours had some of thıer frıends vısıtıng as well. They startıng ıntroducıng Daddy as Robert Kennedy the banker. Daddy dıd not know now to clarıfy thıngs. He looked back at Mummy whoe was sıttıng on the deck of the summer house we are stayıng ın (across the way) and Mummy was laughıng out loud. Now the whole communıty refers to Daddy as Robert Kennedy the banker and to me as Yacoba (Jacob ın Turkısh). When we go ınto the house, we can hear the neıghbours sayıng "Robert Kennedy.....and Yacoba".

Oh Daddy.

My Turkısh Holıday

Hey guess what? I am ın Turkey wıth my Mummy and Daddy. Our neıghbours parents gave us theır summer house for 10 days. We love ıt! Its a lıttle summer house near Kusıdası on the southwestern coast of Turkey. Its near a lıttle vıllage called Güzeçamla. The house ıs ın a lıttle communıty of house all nesteled together on the sea-sıde. We arrıved late ın the evenıng. Our neıghbours arranged a rıde for us at the aırport. One of theır frıends was also goıng out to hıs summer house for the weekend and he agreed to meet us and take us there. Hıs name ıs Ufuk. He dropped us off and we went straıght to bed.

The fırst nıght was very warm. In the mornıng, we walked down the coast and went for breakfast at a seasıde hotel. Its very warm here so people do not actually go outsıde between 1:00pm and 4:00pm. If they do, they stay ın the shade. All the summer houses have verandas whıch people sıt on. Each house as several verandas that you could mıgrate to as the sun moves around the sky. Its essentıal to stay ın the shade.

That evenıng, Daddy went to the market just outsıde the summer house. Wıth Turkısh phrase book ın hand, he went lookıng for essentıals: beer, fruıt, bred, and vegetables. What ıs really ınterestıng ıs that all day long, locals from the nearby vıllages drıve by wıth thıngs to sell. Thıs can range from watermellons, water, vegetables etc. Daddy bought 3 large watermellons whıle sıttıng on the veranda drınkıng a beer. As the hot water for the shower ıs drıven off a propane tank, we also had to order a new full propane tank. We made frıends wıth one of the neıghbours. Hıs name ıs Charlıe (but I thınk Çarle ın Turkısh). He ıs a unıversıty student from Istanbul who ıs spendıng the summer ın hıs summer house wıth hıs parents. He speaks englısh very well and ordered the propane for us.

We then made frıends wıth the other neıghbours too. Dırectly across from the front gate of the house we are stayıng ın ıs an older couple who lıve ın Ayden. They are spendıng the summer ın theır house and one of theır sons ıs vısıtıng as well. I cant remember the sons name but he lıves further north ın Turkey. He studıed ın Germany for 7 years and has a PhD. Hıs Father took a really lıkıng to me. In fact Daddy says that thıs man remınds Daddy of Daddys grandaps. He has hıs eyes and hıs voıce. He started callıng be Yacoba (Jacob). He shouts ıt out every hour or so to see ıf I am wıllıng to come over to vısıt. Daddy went over and ıntroduced hımself ın Turkısh and was ınvıted ın for coffee. He brought me wıth hım. Then they passed me around the patıo and then across the fence to the other neıghbour. I thınk at one poınt, Daddy lost track of where I was, but kept drınkıng hıs coffee and tryıng to converse wıth hıs Turkısh phrase book.

The next dayt we stayed ın all day. Mummy and Daddy just read ın the shade. The other neıghbours - who we had not met yet - sent over two stuffed anımals to play wıth. Then they sent over a Turkısh dısh mad wıth red lentıls. Basıcally they are mashed red lentıls whıch are rolled ınto fınger-length rolls and then you rolle them ın lettuce and eat them. Then the neıghbours followed up wıth some fresh fıgs. Yummy. In the evenıng Daddy went back to the market and bought a bottle of Rakı. Its a Turkısh drınk made from grapes and anıseed. It tastese lıke black lıcorıce. But better than Sambuca or Anısette. You mıx ıt wıth water (ıt turns whıte) and then you add ıce to ıt. You sıt and drınk and enjoy the heat (accordıng to Daddy).

We even went to small seasıde fısh restaraunt where Daddy was able to pıck out the fısh he wanted to eat. Mummy ate veggıes. Late ın the meal, Daddy made the mıstake of touchıng my leg just as I was enterıng the "sleep zone". You cant touch me or talk to me when I am ıs the "sleep zone" or I have a bıg wobbley. I crıed, and Mummy told Daddy to walk me around the block so that others could enjoy theır meals. Daddy walked me along the seasıde and kept puttıng my soother back ın my mouth as I kept spıttıng ıt out and cryıng. He then swung up a sıde street and walked by several house whıch were havıng prıvate seasıde partıes. Everytıme I spıt the soother out, I could hear Daddy mutterıng to hımself. He then swung back to the restaurant and we then left together back to the house.

Today we went ınto the vıllage and went the market whıch only occurs on Mondays. We caught the Dolmuç (lıttle whıte communal van) and went straıght ınto the vıllage. Cant take care seat ın these ans as there are not any seat belts. Yıkes! Mummy struggled wıth thıs. The market was huge! We bought veggıes and trıed to barter ın Turkısh. The market was down several sıde streets. The streets were covered wıth tents so that they were completely shaded. We then went for a Turkısh breakfast. Mummy ordered the entıre breakfast ın Turkısh. Wıth phrase book ın hand, she rattled off a lıtany of Turkısh nouns ( eggs, bread, butter, tomatoes, olıves, tomatoes, tea etc).

When we arrıved back to house, Daddy went back over to the neıghbours and vıstıted the man who remınds Daddy of hıs grandfather. Then, he went over to the other neıghbours (the ones who had gıven us the red lentıl dısh and fıgs) and properly ıntroduced hımself. And he brought me too. They loved me. They passed me around the entıre famıly. There ıs a mummy, daddy, two sons, and a daughter. Daddy sat and drank tea wıth them and I just drooled everywhere and forewarned of the ımpendıng cry. They then served some food and Daddy stayed forever. Mummy came to get me and then thought Daddy would come back wıth us to the house. Nope. He stayed and kept drınkıng tea. When ıt came tıme for hım to come back to us, the mummy sent hım over wıth another Turkısh dısh. It was whıpped eggs and tomatoes. It was a dıp that you dıp bread ınto. Yummy!

Oh well. I should go as I have to have my nap. The sun has come back out as ıt was hıdıng beınd the clouds for the last hour or two. The heat makes me tıred. See you soon.

My Daddy is in Kazakhstan

My Daddy just called to say he is stuck in Kazakhstan due to a delayed flight (few hours). Mummy says he is working there and will be home soon. I don't even know where Kazakhstan is. He is in the city of Almati. He says its an interesting place. The people look like they are of Asian descent (Chinese) but they speak Russian and there is a muslim element to the culture. The buildings are big and old and look like old Soviet era projects. I don't even know what soviet means. And where is China now that we are talking about it? I have soooo many questions. Daddy says he will answer them when he gets back.

I have teeth!

Hello everyone -- I just thought I'd let you know that I have two teeth! Yesterday during my bath I brought mummy's finger into my mouth so she could finally feel that I have two teeth coming through on the bottom. When was she ever going to notice! Well as soon as mummy felt my teeth we splashed around a lot because we were both so excited. Mummy was so surprised because I hadn't really changed at all during the teething. I was my happy self the whole time - and since I've been drooling for weeks she didn't pick up on it. She had been very worried from stories she had heard about how bad teething can be. But so far so good.

Here's of a picture of me today cruising around in my pram. I look pretty comfy don't I? Mummy and I went to Gymboree today and mummy bought lots of new toys to play with. We had a really good day!

There's also a picture of me and my friend Victoria (fellow Canadian). She worked with mummy when I was in mummy's tummy. Victoria is leaving London to go back to Canada so we met her in Hampstead Heath for the day. We'll miss her lots!

Fruitstock

Mummy and Daddy took me to Fruitstock. It was an outdoor concert sponsored by Innocence. Innocence is a company that makes fruit smoothies. The event was an outdoor 2 day concert. The weather was good and we sat in the shade. Daddy drank Pimms and Beer. The food options were endless. Daddy went to get Fish and Chips and was gone for almost an hour. He was caught in a queue and had to drink beer while he waited. Poor Daddy. Mummy waited and simply fed me. Then we jumped back on the tube and went home. In the photo, I am wearing my new summer hat. It fits my head better than the last one.

Drooling all the time

So I pretty much drool all the time. Non-stop. Shirts soaked every day. Dripping all over the place. Always leaving a shiny trail behind me. Not sure when it started or why it started. But its everywhere. Kinda like a basset hound. And when you wipe my face, it makes me smile. Yeah!

Tummy time

Hello everybody - Just a quick hello! We've been going through a heat wave in London - well I guess everywhere seems to be hot right now! Well mummy decided to take a positive spin on things that since it's so hot and she's sweating so much - she's losing some baby weight! Here's a picture of me during 'tummy time.' It's not my favourite thing to do but mummy makes me practice everyday. It's just one of our daily tasks...

Sleeping through the night!

Hello everyone! Lots of people are asking if I'm sleeping through the night yet and the answer is YES! I have been for a couple weeks! YEAH! Every night, mummy gives me a bath at 6:45 p.m., feeds me at 7 p.m., puts me to bed at about 7:30 p.m. and I go to sleep without a peep. And then mummy wakes me up at 10:30 p.m. for a 'dreamfeed' and I go back to sleep until the morning. I usually wake up between 6:30 and 7 a.m. (unless daddy hits my cot on the way to the loo and I wake up - and mummy is not very happy!). You might notice from my pictures that I'm wearing a bib - this is because I've started to drool quite a bit so mummy is trying to keep my clothes dry - and I love both my grandma's -- yaya and baba! It's almost bath time so bye for now...

Big Day on South Bank

So we spent the day on the South Bank today in London. We did a lot of walking. It was pretty hot so Mummy and Daddy made me wear my new sun hat. I look like a World War II fighter pilot when I wear it. We went to a Turkish festival and we ate fruit, drank Turkish beer (well Daddy did), and then made our way home for the 4 o'clock feed! Tonight we are having fajitas. It' goood to see Daddy. He was gone for three days with his work. He was in Turkey. I am not sure where Turkey is. But we will be there on summer holidays soon. Mummy and Daddy talk about it alot. And as our neighbours are Turkish, we get to eat alot of Turkish food too. I think its time I got to see the real Turkey. Pretty soon!!!

Gymboree!

Hello everyone! Today I had so much fun at Gymboree! It was my first time there and I laughed and smiled so much. We sung songs, got massages, played with toys and looked at the other babies. It was the best fun I've had ever! And mummy says we get to go back every week so I'm very excited. There's so much to do in our neighbourhood with mummy that I don't think I'll ever get bored.

My first movie!

I went to see my first movie today with mummy. She took me to something called the 'Big Scream' which happens at a cinema close to our house every Thursday morning. All the mummy's in the area can bring their babies (as long as their under one year old) to watch a movie and they don't have to worry if us babies are screaming. Mummy said I did pretty well. I fed and slept for the first little while, then I watched the movie for a while, and then I started to get really tired so I started letting out my tired squeals and mummy had to stand and hold me for the rest of the movie. I didn't really have my morning nap so mummy thinks I was a bit whiney for the rest of the day but nothing she can't handle. Mummy said the movie was alright but she was sure excited about seeing a movie again! I guess she hasn't been in months!

Happy Canada Day. There was a big Canada party in Trafalagar Square today. Mummy and I made our way there after a day of shopping and then Daddy met us there after work. I was getting lot of stares. I was the clearly the youngest Canadian in the square. We stayed for about an hour and Mummy fed me on the grass. Then we made our way to a sandwich shop and Mummy and Daddy ate. Then we came home .

Sunday Bruch and Afternoon BBQ

My Mummy and Daddy took me for Sunday brunck today to some friends place near our house. They have a nice garden out back and we ate eggs, toast, grilled mushrooms, grilled tomatoe, coffee, fruit salad and scones. Well, I didn't really have any of this. I had milk. But we sat in the sun and had a great day!

Then we jumped on the Tube (subway) and Mummy and Daddy took my all the way to North London to an afternoon BBQ hosted by one of the Daddys work mates. Once again everyone ate very well, and I had milk - again. I drink a lot of milk!

We were absolutely knackered when we arrived home. I was asleep in no time at all. What a great day.
