Kid's Christmas party

I went to mommy's work's Christmas party today. It was so fun. I went in bouncy castles and slides, ate lots of candy, cookies, deep-fried mac n cheese and a hot dog. There was a kid's stage with holiday music, face painting and caricatures, and a toddler area with cars and trucks and lots of toys. I had so much playing for four hours straight that the last picture is what I looked like after I was in the van for about two minutes - conked out! love Jacob

My favourite hat and shirt

Here's a picture of me in my favourite hat and shirt. I got the toque from my grandpa and grandma newman - it's from the hockey team that my Uncle Jesse plays for in Rochester, New York. I got the Calgary Flames jersey from my yaya (mommy's mom) this summer but for some reason my mom held off until now on giving it to me. She said it's not really her style but guess what mom - it's totally my style. Mommy has to watch it a couple times a week because I love to wear it so much! P.S. I think I have some cookies in my mouth so that's why I'm making a funny face...

My new shovel

Mommy bought me a new shovel and I finally got to use it last weekend when it snowed in Calgary. So I got daddy to go out with me so we could shovel the sidewalk and the driveway. I thought shoveling seemed pretty easy so I don't know why daddy thinks it's a pain in the butt. After we were done shoveling we got to make a snowman. There are no final pictures of the snowman because it never really got finished (I think daddy needs a bit more practice - it's been a while since he's made a snowman). I can't wait for it to snow again so I can use my shovel. love Jacob

My first movie at the movie theatre!

Mommy and daddy took me to see a movie at the movie theatre! We went to see Madagascar Escape to Africa - I loved it! We went with my friends David and Thea and my yaya came too. I sat on a booster seat, and got my own popcorn, pop and chocolate egg. Except dad put my chocolate egg in the drink holder and it fell through the hole and then rolled down between all the seats so I actually never got to eat my egg. I got a little restless halfway through the movie so mommy took me to the potty but then I came back and watched the rest of the movie. I keep talking about going to the movie theatre so I think we're going back again to see Bolt next week. love Jacob

Jacob the ogre!

Ok we did it! For anyone who has talked to us in the last month you've heard our worries about getting Jacob in his Shrek costume for Halloween. But we did it. I won't show you the crying and screaming photos getting him into the costume but who cares! We did it! And he really looked like a little ogre with all the fleece packed underneath. And we even got the little hat on - a miracle! He went out with two neighbourhood boys and had a great time and came back with a whole bag filled with candy. He also had a chance to hand out some candy to kids who came to the door as well. A great night with great weather! love Jacob's mommy

Our little hockey player!

I had Jacob in Edmonton for a week and we were busy. Everyday we played hockey. My nephew cut down a hockey stick for him so it was a better size for him to whack the ball than those little wussy sticks he had. I had to use those. We went over to the neighbors one night and Trudy had this black basket full of cat toys for her kittens. Well Jacob loved this basket. He immediately chucked the cats toys and started calling it his hockey helmet, and was wearing it on his head. We kinda chuckled and when we went to leave he wouldn’t part with the basket, so Trudy told him he could take it home. He insisted on sleeping with it. Well the next morning when I took him out on the driveway to hit balls, he wouldn’t play hockey without his helmet. So I had to get the basket and he wore it on his head. He slept with it, bathed with it, and held it while he watched T.V. He also wouldn’t let anyone try it on. No one! I remembered that I had a blue LA baseball helmut of Rob's in the basement, so I got it out, cleaned it up and gave it to Jacob a couple of days later. He loved it. Now he relinquished the black goalies helmet for me to wear and he put on the blue one. We play hockey on my driveway, so I really did not want to wear his helmut but he insisted. Now is that passion or what?? So now the neighbors have proof that I am a basket case. I also had to dump the recycle blue box so he could shoot the puck into the net. He shoots he scores. love Jacob's baba.

Jacob's first roller coaster ride

Ok I have never laughed so hard in my life as when Jacob went on his first roller coaster ride (he's in the middle taking it all quite seriously at this point). The roller coaster actually went pretty fast and he was holding on so tight to the handle and swinging around the corners with his head jerking from side to side. My cheeks hurt from laughing so much. He loved it! He actually wanted to go on the big roller coaster at Calaway Park but I told him he's not big enough yet. This child has no fear of rides but yet he's scared of any little animal that crosses his path (ok I was the same when I was little so I can't blame him - and I think his dad was scared of animals and rides!) Well we thoroughly enjoyed our season's pass to Calaway Park and will definitely do it again next year! love Jacob's mommy

My baby brother...

I had a chance to see my baby brother for the first time today. They call this a 4D ultrasound. It's really just moving 3D! You can't fool me....

Bye Bye

Visit to see baby Cameron

Hi everyone - Here are some picture from my recent visit to Sparwood, B.C., to see my baby cousin Cameron. Sparwood has the biggest truck in the world, which I was very excited about. Here's a picture of Cameron and I sitting in the huge wheel! It was a really good visit and I had lots of fun hangin' with my cuz! love jacob

Ok much belated again... Mommy's fault - she said it's because she's pregnant but she always has these big gaps in my blog. This is us at the Turkish Festival and unfortunately you can actually see the date so we're really dating ourselves. This is our ode to our Turkish friends back in London - Ozgur, Basak and Burcu! Mommy says I'm half Turkish because I went to Turkey when I was in mommy's tummy and I went again when I was three months old. Mommy also ate a lot of Turkish food while she was pregnant and after I was born because our Turkish neighbours would always bring us food. Well the Turkish festival was alright - it was their first year so we'll see how it is next year. But mommy and I ate lots of gozleme (which is like a tortilla with feta and parsley) and I loved it - YUMMY! After the festival, we went into Prince's Island Park and I played at the park for a long time. It was a very nice day. love jacob

Howdy pardners!

Howdy pardners! Today I went to the Calgary Stampede - the greatest outdoor show on earth. For everyone that's not from Calgary, it's 10 crazy days filled with rides, rodeo and lots of drinking (I was just drinking water). Mommy and daddy took me to kiddieland where there were lots of rides. I went on a helicopter, motorbike, rollercoaster, a topsy turvy boat, merry go round, jeep and a huge slide (where daddy looked more scared than I did coming down). Most of the rides I did on my own but daddy came with me on some of them. We had burgers and french fries and mommy had a frozen banana covered with chocolate (she doesn't recommend it as the chocolate wasn't great quality...) But they have tonnes of fun food like pizza on a stick, deep-fried oreos, pretzels, fiddlesticks, elephant ears, fresh lemonade and I can't forget the mini donuts! Well for anyone reading this outside of Calgary - come visit us next year for the Calgary Stampede - we'll have a blast! Don't forget your cowboy hat. YEEHAW!

Cool dude at the beach

Hey everybody - Sorry I have not written in a long time - my mommy lost the password to sign into blogspot! These pictures are from a few weeks ago, mommy, yaya and I went to visit my great auntie Judy and cousin Shiana in Hidden Valley, which is located in the middle of the Siksika Reserve. It's a beautiful resort with lots of rustic cabins, a golf course and a beach - amazing. We got to drive around in a golf cart and of course we checked out the beach. It was a pretty hot day though so we didn't stay too long because mommy was getting overheated! Ok so I promise you'll hear more from me now that we've got the password again. See you soon baboon!

Daycare clothes!

Mommy had plans a couple weeks ago to meet up with an old friend from high school and her son (Regan and Jude) at the mall. So mommy put me in some cool clothes in the morning so I would be stylin' for our play date. But when mommy picked me up from the daycare she was horrified to see that I was in some old baggy shirt and some big ratty jeans that had 'Just for you childcare' written on the front in thick black marker. How embarrassing! I guess I had an accident so I had to wear the daycare clothes (mommy always forgets to leave a spare set of clothes so really it's her fault...). So we had to rush off to Old Navy before the play date so I could get some new clothes! Phew! So here we are on my first carousel ride. Mommy was so nervous to leave me on my own but I did just fine! love jacob xo

As most of you know, I have been walking for about a year now. However it was an uphill battle to get here. Daddy has finally posted the intense training course I had to endure....

Bye Bye

Our little Turk.....

My Daddy bought this shirt for me when we were living in London, England. He was doing some work in Istanbul, Turkey and picked this up for me as a gift. It was too big but he knew one day it would fit. And today it finally fits!

I miss Turkey. When we visited Turkey my Daddy took a lot of home movies. However he did not get a chance to post any of them. I have included one of them below. I was really little when these were shot. I wasn't even crawling yet. If you look back on my blog to Sept 2006, you will see all my posts from Turkey.

More playin' (and some funky hair!)

Hi everyone -- I think my mommy is braggin' about what a good mom she is by taking me to play at all these great places. Here I am at a mall that mom likes to take me to - the kids area is free and the floor is really soft and squishy and so are all the toys that I'm playing on. Ok but I did have some funky hair going on that day - what's with the wings???!!! Usually after I play for a while we go eat dinner in the food court and then mommy does a little bit of shopping and then we go home and I sleep like an angel. By the way if you're wondering where my daddy is - he's a guitar lessons when my mom takes me out to play... love jacob (p.s. basak and ozgur make sure you check back this weekend 'cause we have a special outfit that we want to show you - we miss you lots!!)

Playgrounds

Hi all -- Here are some pictures of me playing at a new cafe / play area near our house called Playgounds -- get it? Play and coffee grounds... Anyway mom paid $4 for me to play in the play area while she drank a tea and hung out with other mom's. Mom's not too happy with me these days because I'm always movin' and she can't get good pictures of me! I'm talking a lot these days pretty much saying everything that mommy and daddy say. I guess I'm having issues with getting my 't' and my 'f' mixed up, which isn't normally a problem except when I see a truck. And since I get so excited when I see trucks I shout out 'Oh *uck!' (replace the t with a f and you get what I'm talking about). Some of mommy and daddy's friends are commenting on my colourful language! oh well... what's a boy to do! love jacob

My great aunty's sweater

This popcorn sweater I'm wearing is my great aunty nancy's sweater from when she was a young gaffer like me! My uncle jonny and my uncle jesse used to wear it too and now it's my turn! My great aunty nancy (or nanti as I call her) is holding me in the second picture. Aunty nancy came for a visit from Vancouver for the weekend and it was so nice to see her! love jacob
p.s. hey christopher - notice i don't have my soother!

My Christmas outfit

Hi everyone - This is a bit late but I wanted to show off the Christmas outfit that my yaya (my mommy's mom) bought me. I wore it everyday during the holidays to get the best use of it. This is probably something that will embarrass me when I'm older but for now I think I looked pretty darn cute. Penguins are very trendy this year! love jacob xo

My first haircut

Ok this is kind of embarrassing but I'm 20 months old and just got my first haircut! What can I say - I take after my mom and her mom says she didn't even get hair until she was three years old! So my baba (my daddy's mom) is a hair stylist so she finally convinced mom to cut my hair. My mom loved my long locks of blonde hair - ok so it wasn't really locks of blonde hair. It looked like I had bed head all the time. Well here are some pictures so enjoy! love jacob
