Four weeks old!

Hello everyone - I'm officially four weeks old - well I was four weeks on Wednesday and I'm one month old as of today. Things have been pretty relaxing this week. Mummy has been kind of sore this week from her operation for some reason so we haven't really been leaving the house at all, which is okay because the weather in London has not been very good. Lots of rain. I had a friend come over yesterday - his name is Zac and he's about two months older than me. Our mummy's used to work right beside eachother and share pregnancy stories so they were quite excited to finally get us together. It's a long weekend coming up so I'm really looking forward to hanging out with daddy for three whole days. I'll let you know what we got up to!

My first piggy bank!

A few days ago, Daddy received a call at work from a women in his Human Resources Department. They knew that I had been born and wanted some information about me. Daddy was a little confused as he had filled out all the forms for his paternity leave and discussed all the details with his manager. So he was not clear on why this women was asking all these questions about me. Anyways, Dadddy passed on all the relevant information and went on with his work.

On Saturday, our doorbell rang at 9:00AM. Mummy ran downstairs to answer the door. A package had arrived for both Mummy and Daddy in a big box. Upon opening the box, we discovered (while I was smiling - see previous post) that the box was in fact a gift for me. In turns out that Daddy's work bought me a gift. They bought me my very own piggy bank! However I am not sure why they call it a piggy bank as its clearly a rabbit. Mummy told me that its from a really nice store in London called Tiffany & Co. And the piggy bank was made in Italy. Mummy and Daddy were both really impressed.

Daddy then put 15 quid (15£) in the bank. He winked at me and said. "One day Jake, I will teach you about the magic of compounding interest....."

P.S. Mummy is not allowed to take from my bank - Daddy says so.

I learned how to smile today!

Yeah that's right, apparently I was smiling this morning. I don't know how this works but we woke up really early and the sun was shining in the window and the birds were chirping, and Daddy was talking to me and then all of a sudden, I smiled! Honest. And it was not because I had wind. No wind to speak of - just lots of smiles!

Daddy was really excited and made Mummy run down stairs and get the camera. I just could not stop smiling. Of course I did stop when the camera arrived. I don't smile on demand (He He He).

We got big plans today. Not sure what that means but Daddy keeps saying this over and over to Mummy. "We're headin out", he says. Mummy rolls her eyes and says "Okay, we'll see....he could have a "wobbly" and we may end up back at home". Daddy adds, "We spent enough on the pram (stroller), he can cry in comfort in his home on wheels!" Mummy just exhales and gives a closed mouth, reluctant smile.

P.S. Daddy's dreaming, he works all week during the day/night. He has no idea what a "wobbly" really is. But I can't fault him for being a dreamer!

Stay Tuned.

Finally some guy clothes!

Mummy finally dressed me in some man clothes instead of those wimpy sleepers that babies wear! I got these at my baby shower from mummy's friend Dianne. Pretty cute eh?

I love the caffiene, I love the caffiene

So Mummy ate a really big chocloate bar yesterday. We then realised that this may have been the reason I did not sleep all day. I was awke for hours. I just could not find a way to go to sleep. Daddy moved me around the house (room to room) and played all sorts of games but nothing would put me to sleep. Lesson learned. Easy on the chocoloate (caffiene).

By the way I learned this new trick. When Daddy changes my nappie, I pee. That's right, I pee all over myself, him and the new clean unfastened nappie. I am currently 4 and 0 for the last 4 nappies changes. Daddy does not seem to be impressed by it. He says funny words when I do it. Regardles, I am good at the pee thing!

YaYa's gone back to Canada

YaYa (Grandma) went back to Canada today. Both mummy and I cried a lot when she left. She really helped mummy out during these past couple weeks and mummy's a bit worried about what she's going to do without YaYa around. YaYa's been cooking, cleaning, cuddling and not to mention all her amazing tried and true baby tips. Mummy says she couldn't have done it without her. I think mummy and I are going to do really well together. We're already off to a good start - I've been napping for almost an hour and a half this morning. Well thank you very much YaYa for helping mummy and daddy out. I'll miss you lots and I'll see you at Christmas time. luv Jake.

Another achievement for the day.....

Well, not only did i go shopping with Mummy today, but I also participated in my first dinner party. That's right. We went to our neighbours for dinner tonight - yay! They cooked us Turkish food and French food and also played with me and took pictures. Mummy told me that the food was going to be really good. I could tell by watching that it was yummy. The neighbours also had a guest over for dinner too who is originally from France but currently working in London. She is getting married soon and we talked about her wedding plans. I was all ears and then I fell asleep. A good time was had by all. The neighbours gave Mummy's Mummy a gift from Turkey (painted bowls from Istanbul). We finished off the night with a little desert (Turkish cookie with ice cream and strawberries) and the I had a little cry. Mummy then whisked my upstairs and fed me - yay!

Woke up it was a Chelsea morning!

Mummy took me shopping today to her favourite part of London - Chelsea. She told me that she was making some big steps today because she took me on the bus for the first time and she nursed me in public. I pretty much slept through the whole experience so I can't really tell you what Chelsea's like but my mummy seemed to have a good time. Although she was a bit nervous getting on the bus and she looked a bit silly with her head under a blanket for the first five minutes of feeding me. But I think she got the hang of it eventually. This is a picture of me and mummy just after she fed me -- I'm pretty happy right now!

Mummy's Baby Shower

Mummy had her baby shower today. Her friend Diane hosted a party and Mummy and I recieved lots of presents. I recieved a blanket, an outfit, squeaky toy, baby owner manual, train Robeez and a bompi seat - Yeah! Diane lives very close to us. So Mummy, Mummy's Mummy and I took a taxi (with the car seat!) to Dianes. We played games, ate food, and everybody was able to hold me. Oh yeah, we gossipped too!

Then we forgot our cameras in the taxi on the way home. Daddy then had to call the taxi company and get the taxi driver to come back and drop off our cameras.

I lost my belly button today.....

Daddy was giving me a bath today when my belly button fell off! I am not sure how exactly this works but apparently when I was born my tummy was connected to Mummys tummy. Then daddy cut it and left this little piece dangling from my tummy. Today that piece fell off.

Mummy's Mummy says that she can tell that I am gaining weight. She says I have starting to get a double chin and my finger and toes are getting fatter! Yippee!

And, I just found out today that my Daddy's Mummy has a Mummy too! I have not me her but will see her next Xmas time when I come to Canada.

Daddy took Mummy's Mummy shopping to Chelsea today. They bought truffles - which are yummy chocolates (for grown ups). They then went out and had Lebanese food. I am not sure what Lebanese is but Daddy says I will find out soon.

I stayed home all day with Mummy and cried and cried and cried. Then I conveniently fell asleep right before the mid-wife arrived. She was supposed to weigh me but she said that I looked so comfortable and peaceful that there was no need to wake me. Bummer, as I want to truly know if I am gaining weight. Stay tuned, she come back on Tuesday. I will knock back a few more servings of Mummy's yummy milk and try to tip the scale!!!

The baby whisperer

Uh oh. Mummy decided yesterday that it's time to put me on a 'schedule.' I'm thinking 'ma - I'm only one week old!' I guess she felt that I spent too much time 'attached' to her yesterday if you know what I mean. Well today it seems to be going pretty well -- she's already calling herself the baby whisperer! Supposedly I eat every three hours, then I have some activity time, then I sleep for one and a half hours. I guess this is also supposed to help me sleep longer during the night so mummy and daddy can get a bit more sleep. Well I'll give it a try and see what I think about it... Here are some pictures of me having my activity time and my sleep time.

Born to Blog....

I am loving this. Even though my palms are just little bigger than each key on the keyboard!!!!!

Day 4 (Finding the Routine....)

So we had a really fun night last night. I was up all night long with Mummy and Daddy. I cried a lot and fed a lot and pooed a lot and just randomly repeated all three all night long. Mummy was there everytime I need to be fed. Daddy has to change me and helped Mummy as she cannot bend over. So yeah, all three of us played all night long. I think Mummy and Daddy were more tired than I this morning though.

When we awoke this morning, Mummy and Daddy thought that it would be fun if I had a bath. They had watched the nurse bathe me in the hospital but had never really undertaken the task themselves. However Mummy and Daddy did not time the bath perfectly as I was tired from all the fun we had last night. I had to sleep a little and made them wait until I as ready to bare all and hop in the tub.

Then Daddy jumped to task and gave me a proper bath! It was fun. I wrapped up around is arm like a cheeky little monkey and held on for dear life. The water was really warm and it felt good. I had fun!
